Sinclair Accuses PNP of Hypocrisy for Criticism of Proposed Reduction of GCT on Energy

Government Senator Charles Sinclair is pushing back at criticism of the government’s intention to reduce general consumption tax, GCT, on electricity from 15 per cent to 7 per cent.

While delivering his contribution to the State of the Nation Debate in the Upper House on Friday, Senator Sinclair accused the opposition People’s National Party, PNP, of brazen hypocrisy and flip-flopping on the issue.

He recalled that in 2015, the then PNP administration broke its commitment to remove GCT on electricity.

Senator Sinclair slammed the PNP for being inconsistent on the issue of GCT on electricity.
