Mayor of St. Ann’s Bay and councillor for the Ocho Rios Division, Michael Belnavis, says Marsha Smith’s inexperience in representational politics came to the fore during her four years as member of parliament, MP, for North East St. Ann.
On Tuesday, Miss Smith resigned as MP with immediate effect.
Her resignation came four years to the day she won the seat in the September 2020 general election.
Miss Smith’s resignation has paved the way for the minister in charge of the water portfolio, Senator Matthew Samuda, to be the Jamaica Labour Party’s standard bearer in North East St. Ann.
Mayor Belnavis believes Samuda will be welcomed by labourites in the constituency.
