PNP Patriots Support Golding’s Criticism of House Speaker

The young professional affiliate of the People’s National Party, PNP, The Patriots, is supporting Opposition Leader, Mark Golding for his criticism of House Speaker Juliet Holness during his budget presentation on Tuesday.

The group says it commends Mr. Golding for his commitment to transparency and accountability in raising his issues with the parliamentary framework.

The Patriots expressed concern that the House Speaker has failed to disclose advice provided by the Attorney General regarding the tabling of crucial reports from the Integrity Commission.

The group says this issue raises questions about Mrs. Holness’ commitment to upholding the principles of good governance.

The Patriots also cited the government’s walkout as a reflection of its unwillingness to address the concerns raised by the opposition leader.

According to the Patriots, the conflict of interest stemming from Mrs. Holness’ relationship with the prime minister raises more concerns about her ability to fulfil her duties in an impartial manner.

The Patriots say this worsens the already declining performance of the office following similar concerns about impartiality levelled at former House Speaker, Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert.
