PNP Conducting Political Analysis on Golding’s Dual Citizenship

Opposition Senator, Damian Crawford, says the People’s National Party, PNP, is conducting its own analysis of the political implications of Mark Golding’s dual allegiance.

A recent Bluedot Poll says 61 per cent of Jamaicans believe Golding should renounce his British citizenship if he plans to be prime minister.

While unwilling to share his own personal opinion on the matter, Senator Crawford says he remains in full support of the Opposition leader and his bid for Jamaica House.

Meanwhile, Senator Crawford says poorer Jamaicans will reap far more than they would lose from an additional one percentage point increase in General Consumption Tax, GCT, to fund improvements in the education sector.

The senator made the proposal last Saturday while addressing a conference put on by the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools.

In defending the proposal, Mr. Crawford says the value of education for those in poverty far outstrips the cost to taxpayers.
