North East Manchester Aspirant says No Invite Was Needed for Constituency Conference

Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, aspirant for North East Manchester, Omar Miller, has sought to clarify why a formal invitation was not extended to Hidran McKulsky, another aspirant for the constituency, to attend a recent party conference.

The JLP held the constituency conference at Christiana High School on Sunday.

According to Miller, who is the councillor for the Craighead division, no special invite was sent out.

Miller and McKulsky, who is principal of Holmwood Technical High School, are both vying to replace Audley Shaw as the JLP candidate in the seat.

Shaw is bowing out of representation politics after 31 years and will not contest the next general election. He has selected Miller as his heir apparent.

But McKulsky, who was not at the conference where Miller was endorsed, says Shaw’s support does not automatically make Miller the caretaker.

According to him, he will continue to work for the people in North East Manchester.

Miller, meanwhile, says he plans to personally speak with McKulsky and invite him to any future public gatherings or conferences in the constituency.
