Kartel Moves to Distance Himself From Politics: “My Allegiance is to the People”

Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel has moved to clarify his involvement in the political arena.

According to Kartel, his true allegiance is to the people of Jamaica regardless of whether they support the opposition People’s National Party, PNP, or the governing Jamaica Labour Party, JLP.

Kartel was a special guest at the PNP’s annual conference on September 15, taking the stage alongside his attorney Isat Buchanan.

The artiste also posted a recent video on social media in which he asked Buchanan about his plans for East Portland. Buchanan is the man tasked by the PNP with unseating the JLP’s Ann Marie Vaz as MP.

But in another video posted on social media on Thursday, Kartel says his interest in Buchanan should be seen only as support for a friend who was integral to his release from prison.

Kartel said he also holds no animosity towards either Ann Marie Vaz or her husband, the West Portland member of parliament, Daryl Vaz.
