A member of the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, Communication Taskforce, Marlon Morgan, says he was not surprised by Monday’s low voter turnout in North East St. Ann.
The preliminary counting of ballots indicated an estimated voter turnout of 11.6 per cent.
The EOJ says the Returning Officer will begin the final counting of the ballots on Tuesday at the designated counting centre.
If the voter turnout remains below 15 per cent, it will be the lowest recorded among the three by-elections held in North East St. Ann since 2001.
Mr. Morgan says the government has taken note of the noticeable levels of voter apathy during the by-election.
