Holness: Dissatisfaction in JLP Ranks Contributed to Poor LGE Performance

Prime minister and Jamaica Labor Party, JLP leader, Andrew Holness, says disaffection among workers and supporters contributed to the party’s less than stellar performance during the local government elections in February.

Addressing a massed gathering of JLP supporters at the South East St Catherine constituency conference in Portmore, Mr. Holness says he’s given a directive to the party leadership to mend fences with the base in their constituencies.

The local government election saw the JLP losing several council seats to the opposition People’s National Party, PNP.

The prime minister says the party’s leadership analysed the findings of an election review at a recent retreat.

From that retreat, Mr. Holness says he called on the party’s top brass to go on a charm offensive over the coming months leading to the next general elections.
