Golding Urges Against Exclusionary Thinking in Constitutional Reform

Opposition Leader Mark Golding says the meaning of being Jamaican must form part of the dialogue as conversations on constitutional reform continues.

The Constitutional Reform Committee has recommended that to be eligible to serve in parliament, one must be explicitly Jamaican, excluding Commonwealth citizenship.

But speaking Wednesday morning at the 10th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference in Montego Bay, Mr Golding says changes must not be exclusionary.

Meanwhile, Mr. Golding is applauding members of the Diaspora for their contributions to Jamaica especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He says Jamaicans in the Diaspora and their support is critical to the survival of the country.
