Opposition Leader Mark Golding is refuting claims that the People’s National Party instigated protests by hotel workers in recent weeks.
On Heroes Day, October 21, hundreds of workers at Royalton Negril staged a protest, claiming staff is treated poorly and are underpaid and overworked.
That triggered a series of industrial action by workers at the Iberostar in Rose Hall and Secrets in Montego Bay, both in St. James. Workers at the Excellence Oyster Bay hotel in Trelawny also took to the streets with similar concerns.
The industrial action by the workers have been criticised as being politically motivated.
However, Mr. Golding maintains that the PNP has no hand in the protests. He’s calling for a structured approach in dealing with the concerns of the hotel workers.
