Opposition leader, Mark Golding, has criticised plans and programmes announced by Prime Minister Andrew Holness at the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, annual conference on Sunday as empty promises.
Mr. Golding says the current administration has a poor track record delivering the kind of reforms mentioned.
Mr. Golding was speaking at a People’s National Party media briefing on Tuesday.
He contrasted the JLP government’s string of initiatives, which it failed to deliver, to what he believes is his party’s far more successful tenure in government.
Prime Minister Holness on Sunday vowed to ensure that government bureaucracy work for Jamaicans through the ASPIRE Programme.
But the opposition leader says the current administration simply lacks the credibility to move the country forward.
Meanwhile, Mr. Golding says the prime minister’s promised reduction in the general consumption tax rate for electricity bills will accrue to the wealthy and not those who need it.
He says his next administration will bring credible plans to lower energy costs in the country.
