Emotional Clarke Bids Farewell to North West St. Andrew

It was an emotional Dr. Nigel Clarke who bid farewell to his North West St. Andrew constituents on Monday night.

He will depart Jamaica this Thursday – October 31- to assume his new role as deputy managing director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C. 

His resignation as member of parliament takes effect midnight tonight, Tuesday. Meanwhile, his resignation as finance minister takes effect on Wednesday, October 30.

In his farewell address, Dr. Clarke used a cricket analogy to describe his success at the constituency level.

Dr. Clarke was speaking at the Jamaica Labour Party’s Area Council One meeting at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre.

He extolled his constituents for their support during his tenure as MP. Dr. Clarke says it was a privilege to serve.
