The Electoral Office of Jamaica, EOJ, says only 5.1 per cent of registered voters in North East St. Ann had cast their ballots up to 11 am, in Monday’s by-election.

There are 43,827 registered voters in the constituency, as per the May 31, 2024 voters list.

The race is being contested by the Jamaica Labour Party’s, JLP, Matthew Samuda, Chase Neil of United Independent’s Congress and independent candidate, David Fritz Anderson.

The seat became vacant on September 3 following the resignation of the JLP’s Marsha Smith.

Polls are due to close at 5 pm and the EOJ says the preliminary result should be available by 6:30 pm.
