UNITED STATES-BRED DIGITAL ONE yesterday franked her terrific 1:06.0 clocking at five and a half furlongs three weeks ago, completing a hat trick of wins with victory in the five-furlong Gregory Park Sprint Trophy on Grooms’ Association Day.

Breaking sharply with champion jockey Raddesh Roman from post-position two in the five-horse field, DIGITAL ONE matched fellow American PACK PLAYS, stride for stride, before turning back her rival’s stablemate, WALL STREET TRADER, inside the final furlong.

Appearing a shadow of the horse who led December’s Mouttet Mile with 128lb, 1-2 favourite PACK PLAYS failed to quicken when challenged by DIGITAL ONE three furlongs out.

Rallying strongly against the rail in the stretch run, while WALL STREET TRADER gained menacingly after stablemate PACK PLAYS packed it in.

DIGITAL ONE clocked 1:00.1, her third win in three months, putting the four-year-old American filly squarely in grade one for her next outing.

Meanwhile, Michael Cain’s 21-1 longshot, RESTORATION, a $550,000 November claim from Anthony Nunes, outfinished ABREATHOFFESHAIR, HOTBREAD SCAMMER and CRYPTOGIRL in a driving finish at five furlongs straight for the Grooms’ Association Trophy.

Racing continues next Saturday.
