Crawford: Education Minister Not Telling ‘Full Story’ About Teacher Shortage

3 months ago 28

Opposition Spokesman on Education, Senator Damion Crawford, believes the Minister of Education, Fayval Williams, is not telling the country the full story about a potential teacher shortage ahead of the start of the new school year.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Minister Williams said there was nothing to suggest that school principals are anxious about not having enough teachers in the classroom for the start of the September term.

She added that she’s not expecting a repeat of the wave of resignations that affected some schools a few years ago.

But Mr. Crawford says based on information available to him, the minister is not telling the truth.

He was speaking at a media briefing at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition on Wednesday.

Senator Crawford is calling for full disclosure from the ministry on the issue of teacher migration.
