Commentator: PNP Has Failed to Convince People to Distrust JLP

Public commentator, Helene Davis Whyte, says despite its intense focus on the integrity of the prime minister for several months, the opposition People’s National Party, PNP, has failed to convince enough Jamaicans to distrust the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, administration.

Mrs. Davis Whyte was reacting to the findings from the latest Nationwide Bluedot poll, powered by Total Tools.

According to the findings, 45 per cent of respondents said they did not trust the government. Forty-three percent said they trusted the government.

The latest poll results also show that trust in the Holness administration has increased between September 2023 and now.

Since September last year, the poll is suggesting that trust in the government moved from 34 to 43 per cent.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Davis Whyte believes younger voters are expressing greater levels of distrust and avoiding the political process because they feel let down by the government.

Fifty-one per cent of youth voters between 18 and 24 said they do not trust the government.
