Wisin, Anita, Shaggy and Maffio Team Up For Peligrosa

Wisin, Anitta, Shaggy and Producer Mafio link up for a Reggaeton- Dancehall collaboration titled “Peligrosa,” which translates to mean “Dangerous” or “Risky” in English.

The song, set for release May 9, is from Wisin’s upcoming album “Mr. W,” and he took to Instagram on Wednesday to thank his collaborators.

“Always the best comes to the end, this song is very special to me ❤️ thank you @anitta for allowing me to dream with you, thank you @direalshaggy respect and admiration 🔥 thank you @maffio to join this great project, too grateful to you, tomorrow we raise the musical level MR. W DOMINICANA REPUBLIC 🇩🇴 JAMAICA 🇯🇲 BRAZIL 🇧🇷 PUERTO RICO 🇵🇷 @fernandolugo DANGEROUS ⚠️ @labase @hydequimico,” he posted.

A music video for the track will also be released simultaneously on YouTube tonight at midnight.

A seasoned collaborator, the Puerto Rican rapper told Rolling Stones Magazine that the album is symbol of his maturity saying, “Mr. W is a name that represents my maturity and growth… there’s more balance in my life, more respect for the music.”

“Making an album is like building a puzzle, putting together different voices, and sometimes joining them in ways others might not,” Wisin elaborated on his collaborative process

Maffio, speaking exclusively with World Music Views, shared insights on how the initial idea for the song came about. He explained that he created the beat and sent it to Shaggy along with the chorus.

“I made the beat and I sent it to Shaggy with the chorus, and I told Shaggy, ‘Listen, I might have Anitta on this record, but this is just an idea. There are no vocals yet.’ Then, he sent me his vocals the next day, and I was like, ‘Holy crap, Shaggy just sent me the vocals right away.'”

Following Shaggy’s quick turnaround, Maffio reached out to Anitta, who had moved to Europe at the time.

“So, I sent it to Anitta, and she had moved to Europe. Then, I sent it to Wisin, and Wisin sent his vocals right away. At that moment, Shaggy heard Wisin’s verse, and I’m sure he didn’t understand what the hell Wisin was saying. But Shaggy was like, ‘Wait, hold on,’ and recorded another verse. That’s why he came back on the record with that verse,” he recalled.

In a serendipitous moment, Wisin, unaware of Anitta’s involvement, reached out to Maffio, mentioning that he was with Anitta and expressing her desire to jump on the track.

“Then, Wisin hit me up, and Wisin was like, ‘Yo, Maffio, I am here with Anitta.’ But Wisin didn’t know that I had already sent it to Anitta. I didn’t tell him that, and I never told Anitta either. So, he said, ‘I was showing her our record, and she wants to jump on it,’ and I was like, ‘Whaat!'”

“That’s when I sent Wisin the screenshots of the conversations I had with Anitta about the record. So, it was like perfect, it was meant to be.”
