WI Championships: Brown & Morrison Rescue Scorpions on Day 1

The Jamaica Scorpions will resume on 173 for 6 against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes on day two of their fifth round West Indies four day Championship encounter at Sabina Park.

The not out batters are opener Carlos Brown on 68 and Abhijai Mansingh on 15.

The Scorpions were at one stage 64 for 5 on day one before Brown and wicketkeeper Romain Morrison, 42, staged their rescue mission.

Jermaine Blackwood’s miserable run continues as he failed to score after facing just three balls. Meanwhile, captain Brandon King went for 8.

Jeremiah Louis has so far bagged 3 for 34, Colin Archibald 2 for 23 and Rakheem Cornwall 1 for 45.

Over at the Sir Frank Worrell Ground, the Combined Campuses will start at 11 for 1 after dismissing the West Indies Academy for 300.

Carlton Bowen Tuckett scored most runs 76 while Johann Layne weighed in with 63 against Kjorn Ottley 5 for 45 and Jonathan Blades 3 for 59.

At Queens Park Oval, Barbados Pride will resume on 99 for 4 replying to Trinidad and Tobago Red Force 172 all out.

And champions the Guyana Harpy Eagles were bowled out for 308 by the Windward Islands Volcanoes at Coolidge.

Kevlon Anderson led the way with 48, Gudakesh Motie 46 and Verasammy Permaul 30 against Darel Cyrus 5 for 67.

The Volcanoes will resume on 12 without loss.
