Williams Industries West Terrace Primary thrashed Amazing Deals Wesley Hall Junior School by a mammoth 161 runs to become the newly crowned champions of the 2024 City of Bridgetown Co-Operative Credit Union Ltd National Sports Council Herman Griffith Primary School Competition. It was their first title in nine years in this competition.
Playing at the Friendship Playing Field, West Terrace won the toss and elected to bat on a hard pitch under bright sunny conditions. They immediately put the pressure on the Wesley Hall bowlers as the opening pair of Neymar Forde and captain Roni Watson brought up their 50-run partnership in only 33 deliveries.
During the 11th over the score rushed to 100 without loss as the West Terrace batters were playing comfortably out in the middle, Forde, Watson and the total extras were in the 30’s at this stage.

In the 18th over Watson lost his wicket for 61 when the score was 165, he had 10 fours and faced 57 balls. Spinner Tyaire Harper got the precious breakthrough for Wesley Hall when Watson was caught at short extra cover off a full delivery.
Nonetheless, the left-handed Forde batted on, continuing into the 21st over before he was out for the top score of 63 in 66 balls having struck eight fours to leave his team well set at 191-2. Forde ended the tournament with 257 runs, including 67 against Good Shepherd.
Zone C winners West Terrace ended their 25 overs with a total of 214-3. There were 72 total extras by the Wesley Hall bowlers which included 59 wides.
During the run chase after the lunch interval, it was clear that the West Terrace fast bowling unit were filled with confidence, as they removed all of the batters to fall. No one scored more than six runs as the Wesley Hall boys were bowled out for 53 in 17 overs with a total of 36 extras.
Ryan Martindale had figures of 3-5 runs in two overs, Amir Watts took 3-6 in three overs, and Kailyn Corbin two wickets for 12 runs in four overs.
West Terrace cleaned up with six of the nine Individual awards on offer, including Forde making the most runs, sharing the gong for most wickets, and taking the title of most valuable player.
