Vybz Kartel not only puts the spotlight on his latest business endeavours in his latest track Cloudy, but the artiste also takes aim at men who indulge in narcotics.
Cloudy marks Kartel’s fourth solo release since his release from prison in July. The AKA. Ruppi-directed music video premiered on Friday and features multiple appearances, including Kartel’s fiancée Sidem Öztürk as well as Gaza Empire alums Shawn Storm and Lisa Hyper.
The track heavily promotes Kartel’s Fire Vybz Premium Hot Grabba tobacco cuts and his Fire cigarette rolling paper brands. His newly released STR8 VYBZ Rum collection, consisting of Fever (Overproof Rum), Electric (White Rum), Ramping Shop (Enhanced Rum), and Unstoppable (Dark Rum), also takes centre stage in the music video.
Cloudy doubles as a marketing tool as well as a smoker’s anthem, with the deejay highlighting marijuana and its pleasurable, intoxicating effects.
“Cloudy mi f**king cloudy. Mi weed it loud and mi smoke it proudly. Lowe mi nuh p**sy lowe mi. Nuh wah nuh beggy beggy smoka round mi. Yow, you will get mi rowdy. Mi hot like di grabba suh nuh bwoy cya clown mi. Notice how mi gyal splif bigga dan har lipstick. Weed nuh meck yuh drunk, nuh meck yuh tipsy,” Kartel sings on his new track.
As illicit drugs remain a topic of discussion and controversy in Dancehall, the deejay also disses men who use them and ‘junkies’ in some of Cloudy‘s lyrics. “Wull heap a grabba. Junkie bwoy gyh s**kout yuh fada and yuh mada. If yah smoke pan mi ends, if a nuh weed den nuh bada. Bag a man a pop pill dem soon f**k dem one a nada.”
Cloudy has racked up over 33,000 views in less than 2 hours since its release on YouTube.
