Dancehall artist Valiant was reportedly fined for having three outstanding traffic tickets, when he appeared in Traffic Court on Tuesday afternoon.
A source within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said they discovered a warrant after an investigation into an accident involving the Speed Off artist and Health Minister Dr. Chris Tufton on Sunday.
“As part of the accident investigation, his license was run. It was discovered that he had a warrant for an outstanding ticket, albeit for a minor offense,” the source told DancehallMag. “So, they made arrangements for him to come back today (Tuesday), effect the warrant and take him to court, where he settled the matter by paying his fine,” the JCF personnel added.
According to Radio Jamaica news, the offenses were committed in the parishes of Kingston, St. Ann, and Westmoreland.
The report said Valiant, whose given name is Raheem Bowes, did not offer any comments on his traffic issues after leaving court on Tuesday afternoon.
A video on Radio Jamaica’s sister station, Television Jamaica’s Instagram page, showed Valiant strolling out of the court building. He waved, mouthed, ” Hi everybody,” and blew a kiss.
“Dancehall entertainer Valiant waves to our camera as he leaves the Traffic Court this afternoon,” the post was captioned.
Valiant swooped down in the comments, jokingly noting: “Why there is no sound 😂you never wah them hear weh me a say”.
Initial reports on Sunday were that Dr Tufton, a former University of the West Indies lecturer, was being treated for a broken wrist sustained in the cycling accident on Charlemont Avenue in St. Andrew. The motor vehicle involved was driven by the then-unnamed artist, now identified as Valiant.
Both Tufton and Valiant had shared a photograph on Instagram, taken at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
In the caption, the Minister, who had a bandage on his forehead, expressed gratitude, stating, “I count my lucky stars and also thank Valiant, who was involved, for rushing me to UHWI, and to the team of doctors and nurses who are currently attending to me.”
