TAJ Expected to Fix Reverse Income Tax Glitch by End of Day Friday

Tax Administration Jamaica, TAJ, says its expect the service malfunction relating to the Reverse Income Tax Credit application, to be restored by the end of today, Friday, October 4.

Several Jamaicans have been complaining of glitches in the system, following the opening of the application period on Wednesday.

In a statement on Thursday, the TAJ says the issue resides with the short message service, SMS, component of the application. It says its service providers have been advised of a possible resolution, that is currently being tested.

TAJ is advising applicants to select the email address option to proceed with the application or delay until the SMS is fixed.

The Reverse Income Tax Credit will see Jamaicans who earn $3 million or less per year, receiving a $20,000 cash payment this fiscal year.

The application period is open until December 2. Over 67,000 Jamaicans have already successfully applied for the grant.
