Stephen And Damian Marley To Make History Playing Red Rocks Amphitheatre With Colorado Symphony

Stephen and Damian Marley are set to take their “Traffic Jam” tour to the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre this weekend for a truly unique performance.

While the Marley brothers are no strangers to the iconic venue, having performed there with their brother Ziggy last year, this year’s show promises a special twist: a collaboration with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and special guest Burning Spear.

For those who may not be familiar with Red Rocks Amphitheatre, here’s a quick crash course: It’s a naturally formed marvel nestled in Denver, Colorado. Imagine a concert venue carved from 290-million-year-old sandstone cliffs, tilted to their current dramatic angle by ancient tectonic forces known as the Laramide orogeny. This geologically significant site was discovered in 1820 by an Army expedition, and later transformed into a haven for music lovers in the 1940s.

The June 28th performance will mark a first for the Colorado Symphony. While traditionally known for their classical repertoire, the orchestra will be venturing into uncharted territory to play Reggae for the first time.

“The Colorado Symphony, known for its innovative programming and community engagement, is one of the leading orchestras in the United States, bringing a new dimension to the Marleys’ music,” a release noted.

“The Marley brothers, continuing the rich legacy of their father, Bob Marley, will bring their unique blend of reggae and hip-hop to the stage, creating an unforgettable live music experience. The addition of The Colorado Symphony will enhance their timeless hits with lush orchestral arrangements, promising a show that transcends musical genres.”

In previous summers at Red Rocks, the orchestra collaborated with diverse stars such as Amos Lee and Sarah McLachlan, the Moody Blues, and Wu-Tang Clan.

Damian and Stephen Marley symbolize the synergy between Reggae and Dancehall, Jamaica’s two defining musical styles. Stephen, a multiple Grammy Award winner, is known for his deep-rooted reggae productions, while Damian brings the more energetic and boastful elements of dancehall. This synergistic blend is perfectly captured in the song “Traffic Jam,” the namesake of the tour.

Traffic Jam, which began in February this year, was their first official tour together as co-headliners. They will join their other brothers Ziggy, Julian, and Ky-Mani for the 22-date “The Legacy Tour,” which will launch on September 5 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
