Raoul Glynn is no longer Managing Director of the Trinidad-based West Indian Tobacco Company (WITCO) following an internal investigation.

He is also no longer Country Manager for British American Tobacco (BAT) Caribbean.

A notice from LATAM North and Caribbean Area Director, Mauricio Lara, said his time in both posts ended on October 31.

In June, Glynn was placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of the internal investigation.

In announcing Glynn's departure from the company, Lara said "BAT has strong values and expects everyone at the company to behave in accordance with said values. Our leaders in particular, are expected to act as role models and operate in a way that earns the trust and support of others."

"We take the wellbeing of our employees extremely serious and have processes in place to ensure that any wrongdoing or concerns can be shared by employees without fear of reprisal," he continued.

He said Hiram Murillo, who was appointed Acting Country Manager for BAT Caribbean and Managing Director of WITCO on June 25, will continue acting, subject to work permit approvals.

Glynn, who is a Trinidadian, was managing director of Jamaican tobacco company Carreras up to September 2022 and was credited for steering the company through the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
