Quincy Din optimistic about ‘Earth Movers’ rhythm

Veteran producer Evroy 'Quincy Din' Chin is optimistic about the successes of his latest studio effort, the 'Earth Movers' rhythm, which was released on October 18.

The six-track project features veteran reggae and dancehall artistes such as Admiral Tibet, Terry Ganzie and Ganggoolie, as well as acts such as Tabeta Cshae, and up-and-coming talents Mawga Don and Izula. Chin, who has been in music since 1988, said the idea materialised from a dubplate recording session he was conducting with Terry Ganzie.

"Terry Ganzie was the first artiste that voiced on the riddim and Izula came by heard it and asked to voice. Then it was almost like the same process for the others, Admiral Tibet, and Tabeta, whose voice had me rocking inside the studio. So I asked her to bless me with a song," Chin said.

"The riddim is a computer built riddim, but the instruments are just a real as the live instruments. Some of the acts will draw attention yes, but the project is quality and that alone with stand by itself," Chin added.

His journey in music has seen him taking on various roles as a sound system operator and an MC. He has also recorded and produced for artistes including Half Pint, Luciano, Mikey General, Pinchers and Capleton. He said this wealth of experience is now the blueprint for his modus operandi as he seek to enlarge his production label Quincy Din Records.

"I have been in the entertainment business since 1994 working as a coordinator at Breezes Resorts, Sandals and Royal Bahamian. Then I started playing sound systems and being around studios in 1998. But I started taking production seriously in 2011. So I have a wealth of experience, which I intend to bring to the table," he said.
