Prime Minister Andrew Holness is reminding Jamaicans that fiscal responsibility is required to ensure their needs are met.

Mr. Holness says successive administrations have made grandiose promises with no ability to follow through.

The prime minister was speaking during the handing over ceremony of 100 new buses to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC.

This brings the total to 171 new buses brought in by the government over the current fiscal year. They were paid for out of government coffers without the need for external financing.

Mr. Holness says his government has broken the cycle where such purchases would be funded through unsustainable loans.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
