Scores of NCB customers are expressing concerns about lump sum charges being applied to their accounts for Uber rides.
On social media site X formerly Twitter, several customers complained about monies either being deducted from their accounts or liens being placed on their accounts.
A lien is a claim or legal right to a debtor’s property or other assets.

The lump sump deductions are reportedly in relation to Uber rides they took months ago.
One customer on X, Elvoy said “NCB say me owe them $300,000. Me deven use Uber so much, a May me get the NCB card.”
Another customer Hunkle wrote “As me see this me go check and see NCB claiming I owe 66-thousand and the transaction doesn’t show what the $66,000 is for.”
A male user said “Man dem tek me 2-grand and lef $91”.
Several other users shared screen shots of their accounts with liens being applied ranging from over $300,000 to $1 million.
In an advisory to its customers on Tuesday, NCB informed of a technical issue that was affecting Visa Debit card payments specifically for Uber transactions.
NCB noted that its technical teams were actively addressing the matter to restore full functionality as soon as possible.
In the meantime, it informed customers that they may experience delays or declined payments when using their Visa Debit card for Uber.
The bank also noted that as a precautionary measure, some cards could be suspended to ensure security.
Additionally NCB advised that prior transactions made were being processed and would be reflected on customer’s account.
The National Commercial Bank in a response to Nationwide News on Wednesday morning said it was investigating the matter and would issue a statement.
Up to news time, the bank had not yet provided an update on the matter.
