The Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, staged a night of excellence on Saturday at Terra Nova Hotel where members of Jamaica’s team to the Paris Olympics were recognised.
Roje Stona, who broke the Olympic record to win gold in the men’s discus in Paris, was awarded $3 million.
Kishane Thompson, who bagged silver in the men’s 100 metres and Shanieka Ricketts who took silver in the triple jump, each received $1.5 million.
Bronze medal winners Rasheed Broadbell, in the 110 metres hurdles, and Rajindra Campbell, in the shot put, picked up $1 million each.
Under 20 world triple jump record holder, Jaydon Hibbert, who just missed the podium in Paris after finishing fourth, received $500,000 for being named the first recipient of the JOA Spirit Award.
