NCB Financial Group Limited, or NCBFG, has announced several board changes for the company as well as its banking subsidiary, National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited, or NCBJ.

Gary Brown has been appointed Lead Independent Director and Audit Committee Chair of NCBFG.

Mr. Brown succeeds Professor Alvin Wint, who retired from the board at the annual general meeting held last month.

Mr. Brown will also serve on the boards of NCBJ and NCB Capital Markets Limited, two of the group’s subsidiaries.

Sandra Glasgow, who has resigned as a director of NCBFG, will continue to serve on the boards of NCBJ and Clarien Bank Limited.

Sanya Goffe will continue to serve as a director of NCFG following her resignation as a director of NCBJ.

The current Chief Executive of Hitachi Canada, Howard Shearer, was appointed as a director of NCBFG on March 13.

John Bailey was appointed as a director of NCBFG on February 21, 2024.

In addition to the changes at NCBFG and NCBJ, the group’s insurance subsidiary, Guardian Holdings Limited, GHL, has made a number of changes over the past year.

This involves installing independent directors within GHL and its subsidiaries.

Chairman of NCBFG, Michael Lee Chin, says the group continues to make adjustments to ensure it has the necessary independence, competence, structure, and culture to effectively discharge the duties of oversight and direction.

According to Mr. Lee Chin, rotations of directors are necessary to ensure that the boards possess the expertise and experience relevant to the times.
