Puerto Rico's Danny Mejia has been named Mr World 2024.
The announcement was made during the grand Mr World coronation on Saturday at NovaWorld in the province of Bình Thuận in Vietnam.
The 28-year-old mortgage loan originator and health sciences graduate from San Juan also won the talent and sport challenge fast-track competitions. Mejia will spend his year of reign travelling to various countries, raising funds, and promoting social projects under the Beauty With a Purpose initiative.
Joining Mejia on the podium were first runner-up Tuan Ngoc Pham from Vietnam, second runner-up Toni Company from Spain and third runner-up Mr World Angola Filipe Salvador Maria.
Jamaica's Tarique Barrett did not place in the Top 20, but was named Mr World Caribbean. The 24-year-old University of the West Indies, Mona student, who is pursuing a double major in marketing and accounts, now holds one of seven continental titles and will stay in Vietnam, along with Mejia and the other continental winners, for a week longer for a media tour.
The other continental winners are Ngoc Pham, who was named Mr World Asia; Company, Mr World Europe; Maria, Mr World Africa; Mr World Venezuela Juan Alberto García Caled, Mr World Americas; and Mr World Australia Lochlan Carey, Mr World Oceania.
Founded in 1996 by the Miss World Organisation, Mr World celebrates talent, physical fitness, and global goodwill.
Jamaica entered the competition in its first staging. Richard Nevers, then 20 years old, placed fourth. In 1998, Mr World Jamaica, Kinte Thelwell, also placed fourth.
