Meta is down: Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp all suffer major global outage

Over 42,000 users of Meta‘s Instagram and the company’s other social media apps are reporting outages right now, according to an analysis by DownDetector.

The most hard hit areas across the United States are currently Chicago and New York, according to a heat map of user-submitted complaints and reports about the Instagram outage collected by the site.

More than 82,000 Facebook users are also complaining of outages, with issues and reports over much of the Eastern and Pacific coasts.
