Messi’s Inter boot Cavalier from Champions Cup

Jamaican and Caribbean champions Cavalier Football Club will take no further part in the Concacaf Champions Cup after goals from Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi left them on the wrong side of a 2-0 result against Inter Miami inside the National Stadium earlier this evening.

Suárez opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 37th minute after Christopher Ainsworth brought down Tadeo Allende in the 35th.

Messi, a second-half substitute, ran onto a throughball in the second minute of time added to tuck a ball past the advancing Vino Barclett in the Cavalier and the haplessly chasing Richard King to make the game safe.

Inter Miami, who came into the game with a 2-0 lead, earned at the Chase Stadium, won the tie 4-0 on aggregate and will now play against the LAF in the quarterfinals at a date and time to be decided.
