McClaren Scouting New Players Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Jamaica national football coach Steve McClaren says he will be using the next few months to scout and hopefully find new players to strengthen the team as the Reggae Boyz look ahead to the crucial World Cup qualifiers resuming next year.

Jamaica crashed out of the Nations League at the quarter-final stage, beaten by defending champions the United States on Monday in St. Louis Missouri.

Having not made it to the semi-finals, the Reggae Boyz must now enter a two legged playoff to get into the Concacaf Gold Cup.

That two legged series will be against St. Vincent and the Grenadines in March next year. The winner on aggregate advances to the Gold Cup.

Until that time, McClaren says the work continues to improve the squad for the busy year ahead.

Meanwhile, Canada and Mexico joined the United States and Panama in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Nations League.

Canada blanked Suriname 3-0 in their second leg quarter-final in Canada Tuesday night to advance 4-0 on aggregate while Mexico turned back Honduras 4-0 to advance 4-2 on aggregate.
