Local innovators are being invited to exhibit their work during the eighth biennial science and technology conference, slated for October 29 to November 1.
The invitation has been extended by the Scientific Research Council (SRC), which stages the event every two years as part of its Science and Technology Month observance.
This year’s staging will take place at the Jamaica Conference Centre in downtown Kingston under the theme ‘Harmony in Innovation: Unleashing the Power of Nuclear Application for Sustainable Development’.
SRC Executive Director, Dr. Charah Watson, underscores the importance of local innovators participating in the conference, as it will bring together key local and global research and innovation stakeholders.
She points out that the conference is timely, considering the ongoing discussions regarding nuclear application in Jamaica and the prospect of incorporating this element into the country’s energy mix.
“In fulfilling our mandate for science popularisation and supporting science education, we have to facilitate and create avenues or mediums through which we can have discourse that are important to the public and every aspect of our lives,” the Executive Director says.
The conference is open to researchers, policymakers, academics, innovators and the general public.
Interested persons can reach out to the SRC for more information about how innovators can exhibit their work during the conference.
