Leon Bailey Vows Not to Play for Reggae Boyz, Rips JFF

Jamaica international, Leon Bailey, says he will not be playing for the national team for the foreseeable future.

Bailey was suspended by national coach Heimir Halgrimsson for breaking curfew during the camp in Jamaica for the Concacaf Nations League tie against Canada.

Halgrimsson told a media conference in Jamaica two weeks ago that Bailey and Trivante Stewart left the team hotel, slept out and missed the team bus the next morning.

However, speaking on Wednesday on the on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, Bailey told host, Jaii Frais, that long standing frustrations with the national team had prompted him to review his role.

Bailey said his relationship with Hallgrimmson had been close until the last international cycle when he was suspended from the team.

He went on to rip into the administration of the team for being unprofessional.

Bailey says due to being one of the team’s best players and his star status, he very often feels exposed by the Reggae Boyz set up.

Bailey says despite his concerns he’s never raised these issues with the JFF.

The rest of the Reggae Boyz completed their final training session ahead of the Concacaf Nations League semifinal against the United States on Thursday.

But, for the foreseeable future, Bailey, will be a spectator.
