Legacy Isle tough to beat in Saint Cecelia Cup

LEGACY ISLE won the Omar Walker Trophy under a hand ride and a loose rein, clocking 1:00.1 for five furlongs round, under topweight 126lb, suggesting he should be tough to beat in Saturday’s Saint Cecelia Cup at six and a half furlongs.

However, fellow Americans, stablemates WALL STREET TRADER and PACK PLAYS, could try tag-teaming the 2024 Mouttet Mile runner-up on his fourth start locally.

A month shy of almost pulling off a Mouttet Mile coup as a Florida invader, LEGACY ISLE failed to finish in the seven-furlong Miracle Man on New Year’s Day.

Brought back on March 22 in the Omar Walker, LEGACY ISLE breezed 58.0 from the gate for five furlongs straight, a warning shot at exercise for all to take heed. Bolting to the lead a half-mile out, LEGACY ISLE won easily, paying scant regard to CHOCOMO toiling second.

WALL STREET TRADER and PACK PLAYS tend to share a common factor besides being stablemates owned by Vincent Maine. The Americans blow hot and cold, every other race, making it difficult to gauge their true form.

PACK PLAYS, the quicker of the two, actually led the Mouttet Mile for four furlongs before LEGACY ISLE took over. Oddly outsped by DIGITAL ONE in the Gregory Park Sprint when last out, a turnaround in form could bother LEGACY ISLE on the lead, setting up WALL STREET TRADER to close.

Should LEGACY ISLE report short of his best, he could pay dearly against the sneaky stablemates.
