Lee-Chin: Enabling Environment Needed for Economic Growth

Chairman of the Economic Growth Council, Michael Lee-Chin says an enabling environment must be created if the country is to realise higher rates of gross domestic product, GDP, expansion.

Lee-Chin’s comments follow news from the Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, that economic growth was flat for the April to June Quarter of this year.

According to the PIOJ, the economy grew by 0.1 per cent.

The PIOJ is also estimating that the economy will contract in the next quarter due to the impact of Hurricane Beryl.
