Knee injury forces Taylor to miss Indian tour

West Indies Women will be without the services of veteran allrounder Stafanie Taylor for their upcoming white-ball tour of India.

According to a Cricket West Indies release, the 33-year-old is currently rehabilitating from an injury and will not be available for the three T20Is and three One Day Internationals (ODI) in India.

Taylor picked up a knee injury during last month’s Women’s T2o World Cup in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which forced her to miss the West Indies’ final two games of the tournament.

Her absence will be a big loss to the Windies.

Taylor has played in 160 ODIs, scoring 5,691 runs at an average of 43.11.

She has also featured in 125 T20Is, where she scored 3,426 runs at an average of 35. 31.

Deandra Dottin, who returned to the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup earlier this year in the UAE, two years after announcing her international retirement, is set to make her ODI comeback during this tour.

Dottin last played an ODI in March 2022, but her recent white-ball form is encouraging, as she was among the most impactful players in the World Cup, where she was named in the Team of the Tournament.

In the Women’s Big Bash League earlier this month, she smashed an unbeaten 46 off 18 balls at a strike rate of 255.55 to secure Melbourne Renegades’ win against Adelaide Strikers in Adelaide.

Seamer Shabika Gajnabi and wicketkeeper-batter Rashada Williams are back for both the ODI and T20Is after having missed out on the T20 World Cup.
