Jamaica Scorpions Suffer 2nd Straight Defeat in WI Championship

The Jamaica Scorpions today suffered their second straight defeat in the West Indies four day Championship, going down by 8 wickets to the Barbados Pride inside three days at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

The Pride were set 119 for victory and easily raced to the target reaching 121 for 1 thanks to an unbeaten 106 run second wicket stand between captain Kraigge Brathwaite 47 and Jonathan Drakes 52.

Earlier the Scorpions were dismissed for 180 in their second innings, Javelle Glenn topscored with 66 while captain John Campbell made 25 and Jeavor Royal 29.

Jomel Warrican ended with 3 for 42, Chiam Holder 2 for 52 and Ramon Simmonds 2 for 36.

At Windsor Park in Dominica, the Combined Campuses and Colleges reached 29 without loss in their second innings against the Windward Islands Volcanoes in a rain affected game.

Volcanoes added 16 to their overnight total to be all out for 248, securing first innings points.

Gian Benjamin made 49, Kenneth Dember 49 and Jeremy Solozano 25.

Akeem Jordan picked up 5-wickets and Romario Greaves 3.

At Warner Park, in Basseterre, there were centuries for Mikyle Louis and Kadeem Henry as the Leeward Islands Hurricanes continue their strong reply to the 529 for 9 declared by the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

At close the Hurricanes were 317 for 3, still 212 runs behind…..Louis blasted 110 and Henry an even 100 in a whirlwind opening stand of 220.

Karima Gore is not out 41 and Jewel Andrew 26….Yannic Cariah has taken all three wickets for 65 runs.

Meanwhile, champions the Guyana Harpy Eagles were dismissed for 253 by the West Indies Academy in their rain affected match at the Providence stadium.

Ronaldo Alimohamed led the way with 66 and Gudakesh Motie 52 against Jediah Blakes 4 for 37 and Zishan Motara 3 for 37.

At sports time the West Indies Academy reached 93 for 3 in reply.
