DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC):
West Indies’ left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein has risen to the top spot in the ICC T20’s bowling rankings, becoming the third West Indian to achieve the feat.
The 31-year-old has taken over the top spot following an impressive bowling spell in the opening T20I against Bangladesh and joins spinners Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine as the only West Indians to be ranked as the number one T20 bowler.
Hosein, who was ranked fourth, took 2-13 from his four overs, and his 707 points helped him leap-frog England’s Adil Rashid, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, and Australia’s Adam Zampa.
Hosein, is the joint third-highest wicket-taker for the West Indies in the format, with 60 scalps, alongside Andre Russell.
Meanwhile, Gudakesh Motie is ninth in the bowling rankings with 651 rating points, while Roston Chase rose to a career-best ninth in the all-rounder category.
