Govana, Aidonia Hilariously Shut Down Rumors That They’re ‘Beefing’

Dancehall artists Govana and Aidonia have dispelled rumors that they have ‘beef’ in a satirical way.

Allegations started circulating that the two 4th Genna artists might have been at odds after Aidonia seemingly ignored patrons’ calls at Easter Monday’s Sandz Caribbean Music Festival to shout out the Undefeated deejay during a ‘big up’ segment during his set.

Didi instead opted to highlight some of his other colleagues, including Mavado, Alkaline, Vybz Kartel Masicka, Chronic Law, newcomers Rajah Wild and Pablo YG, and several others.

But, it turns out that there seems to be no tension in the 4th Genna camp. In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, the two poked fun at what the streets have been saying.

“Right now mi just deh yah fi address a one ting, yuh get weh mi a seh?” Govana began as he turned to two other men—seemingly a part of his circle— to sarcastically ask if they thought Aidonia heard the patrons at Sandz calling for him to get a shoutout. Both responded in the affirmative.

Govi took the joke a little further by ‘complaining’ that he was confused about the possibility of bad blood between him and such a close friend.

“Mi post mi album cova, and mi see di dawg comment, ‘What’s legacy?’ and mi nuh three ovas (understand) it,” he said. “And mi feel like di whole a dis stem from the Ochi show true mi nuh get fi perform. Mi a tell di dawg seh mi a focus pon mi album, and mi tell di dawg seh the Amazura show inna New York a it aguh be the bigger show and a it mi aguh tek on.”

The Champ artist carried on the act before turning to his left and asking a third party what he thought. That person turned out to be Aidonia.

The Breeze artist was, however, just as sarcastic in his response.

“People a pu**y enuh, mi fren suh anyting can gwaan, yuh hear? A desso it deh.”

Aidonia held a birthday bash in Ocho Rios on March 30, which featured other Dancehall acts. Fans, however, thought it weird that Govana was missing from the healthy lineup.

All in all, it’s great to see the two together. Outside of their friendship, they’ve also blessed dancehall lovers with hits like Breeze and Mayday, so who would want them to part anyway?

Meanwhile, Govana has released a collaboration with Jada Kingdom titled Pull Over, with production credits to Chimney Records.
