Gov’t steps in to assist Lt. Stitchie’s medical expenses

Lieutenant Stitchie’s wife, Sophia Laing, is expressing gratitude after the Jamaican government pledged to assist with the gospel singer’s medical expenses.

The announcement was made during Richie Stephens’ handover ceremony on Thursday in Kingston. Principal Director of Entertainment Policy Development, Gillian Wilkinson McDaniel, speaking on behalf of Culture Minister Olivia Grange, confirmed that the ministry will cover Stitchie’s monthly medical bills.

In a Music News interview today, Sophia Laing thanked the government for their assistance and welcomed the newly launched insurance policy aimed at benefiting the entertainment industry.

She also provided an update on Lt. Stitchie’s recovery.

Lieutenant Stitchie, who was hospitalized in September after suffering a brain hemorrhage, is now in a medical facility where he’s getting physiotherapy three times per week.
