FAVOURITES Glenmuir High and Frome Technical will meet in a massive ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup quarter-final today at Glenmuir. Kickoff is set for 3:20 p.m.

The game is the feature match of a doubleheader at the Glenmuir playing field in Clarendon. In the opening game at 1:15 p.m., Central High will face Garvey Maceo High.

Frome are the only unbeaten team left in the competition. They finished second in their group in the round of 16 with five points, following a win and two drawn games. They will go up against a very ‘hot’ Glenmuir who have been on ‘fire’ since the second round of competition started. They have scored six wins in a row and are yet to concede a goal. They have scored eight goals.

Despite finishing second in their group to Munro College, the head coach of Frome, Cleighton Stephens, is confident his team can remain unbeaten.

“We are hoping to go to Glenmuir and get a positive result. They are a good team but we are hoping to play our style of football, as a lot is at stake and the guys are highly motivated,” said Stephens. “We have a bunch of guys who believe in themselves and this is the most awesome group of players I have had in my five years at the helm. It is a team thing but I expect a lot from striker Shevon Spencer, who has scored 19 goals so far, along with midfielders O’brian Reid and Dwayne Watt.”

Despite playing at home where his team has been dominant, Glenmuir’s coach Andrew Peart will not be complacent.

“We are expecting to continue the way we have been playing, as playing Frome is a new challenge for the guys. The key is for the team to go out there and pick up another win,” said Peart.

“I think the team just wants to go out and meet their expectations. Now it is just to take it one game at a time and meet our objectives and move on to the semi-finals,” said Peart. Key players for Glenmuir today will be striker Orane Watson with 24 goals, captain and centre forward Jason Whyte, and midfielder Dunsting Cohen.

In the opening game, Central High, who topped their group with maximum nine points, will be hoping to continue that momentum against Clarendon rivals Garvey Maceo.
