A late goal from Tristan Francis ended the 2024 ISSA/Burger King Rural U14 final as Glenmuir clipped first-time finalist Manchester High 1-0 at St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) today.

In the 70-minute game, just seconds away from a penalty shootout, Francis gave his team a much-needed goal to secure the victory.

Winning coach Johnoy Chambers said it was an emotional victory.

"They beat us in the round of 16, and we know that they are a quality team, so we had to plan. It was a tight game, and we just persevered more than them this time," Chambers told The Gleaner after celebrating the title.

He added, "It is always good to be rewarded for your hard work, and that's what this is today."

Coach Andrew Edwards of Manchester High said overall he is proud of the boys.

"The late goal was a tough pill to swallow. This is why the players are hurting so much. It is difficult, and we are really hurting we couldn't deliver for the school. However, the boys did a fantastic job this season, and we have no shame in the result," he said.

The win gives Glenmuir their second hold on the ISSA/Burger King Rural U14 title and sets up a date against Kingston College in the all-island U14 competition.
