Former Cricket West Indies director and former president of the Windward Islands Cricket Board, Dwain Gill, has been appointed to the role of CWI high performance manager, taking over from Graeme West.
Gill, who is also a former Grenada Cricket Association president, has academic training in business administration and holds a Bachelor of Science and a master’s degree.
He was the manager of the successful West Indies Under-19 team at the World Cup in 2016.
The High Performance Manager role became vacant on September 30, following the departure of Englishman West, who, after 12 years of service to Caribbean cricket, has accepted another position.
West joined the organisation in June 2012 as the head coach of the High-Performance Centre at Cave Hill, Barbados.
He was head coach of the West Indies Under-19 team that won that Under-19 World Cup in 2016 and he also led the West Indies “A” team to series victories against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
He was also instrumental in establishing the new Men’s and Women’s Academy programmes at Coolidge and the new 12-month U-19 Pathway Programme.
West has taken up the role of Cricket Ireland director of high performance.
