Vybz Kartel's highly anticipated Freedom Street event is gearing up to be a monumental moment in dancehall history, and the demand for tickets is said to be off the charts.
The discounted Gaza Nation bleachers tickets, part of a Black Friday weekend promotion, have officially been sold out. Priced at US$75 (approximately J$12,000) during the promotion, these tickets were a steal, compared to their regular price of US$150 (around J$23,600).
Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of DownSound Entertainment, producers of the event, expressed his excitement over the overwhelming response.
"The Gaza Nation is unstoppable," he said. "They've shown up in full force, and the energy is electric. Everyone wants to be part of this history-making night, and we're ready to deliver something unforgettable."
While the exclusive Gaza Nation discounted bleachers tickets, offered for US$75 during Black Friday weekend, are now gone, there are still regular-priced bleachers tickets available.
The demand for tickets has been global. "I'm getting calls from various artistes and friends," Bogdanovich added, "including one of the hosts on the show, telling me everybody in Florida is clamouring to get tickets before they sell out. Atlanta, the East Coast, California - they're all excited. And it doesn't stop there. People are flying in from Canada, the UK, Amsterdam, Australia, Dubai. This is the first Kartel show in over a decade to take place in Kingston, Jamaica, and folks are making sure they're part of history."
Meanwhile, fans who missed out on the limited Gaza Nation discount bleachers tickets still have the opportunity to purchase regular-priced bleachers tickets and tickets in other sections before they're sold out.
Billed as one of the largest events to take place on the island, Freedom Street will see Kartel sharing the stage with a host of stars, including Popcaan, Spice, Skillibeng, Tommy Lee Sparta, Chronic Law, Shawn Storm and Lisa Hyper.
Scheduled for December 31 at the National Stadium, the show will be the Fever hitmaker's first concert performance in 14 years, having spent 13 years behind bars for murder before his conviction was quashed in July.
