Contrary to what selector Foota Hype thinks, deejay Flexxx doesn’t need any handouts.
The former Gullyside teammates have been going at it this weekend over Foota Hype’s claim that Mavado doesn’t do enough to help his foundation artists, using Flexxx as the primary example.
In his first livestream, the controversial DJ claimed that Flexxx is in financial troubles, and that ‘the Gully Gad’ ill-treats him despite his long-standing loyalty.
Flexxx wasted no time in disputing these claims, warning Foota Hype to stay off his case.
“You hear mi a walk a beg and a look hype like you?…” the Gallis 4Eva artist asked. “From wah day, yuh get up with this narrative (that) yuh mek Mavado rich… Weh yuh do fi Mavado?… Go play some song a night time?… A you mek him have the house pon the hill?… So weh me woulda seh den? A me give him the whole a him career den and him fi min’ mi til mi dead?… Unno love man and unno love man min’ unno.”
Also formerly tied to Bounty Killer’s Alliance, Foota Hype has spent the last few years blasting Mavado’s leadership and mentorship style. Flexxx, who had his own feud with Mavado from 2012 to 2014, doesn’t want to be anyone’s pawn.
“Yuh always a gwaan like yuh waan use my name fi mek yourself look good or fi mek Mavado look bad. Bredda, live your life nuh… Nuff a unno badmind true unno see mi and Gully Gad a live (good)… When me and singa did kick off, mi never hear nuh man a forward and a seh yow, you and singa fi be good back… It was singa – who is a man and can think fi himself – reach out to Flexxx and watch yah now, we good now and everything alright. Weh di big talking fah?”
The artist added that he doesn’t need financial support, sharing that he’s been organizing parties across the United States.
“Mi tell you seh mi a look collaboration? Mi tell you seh mi a look song from people?… The points dem dat you bringing across, try mek it for yourself without call my name.”
Considering Foota’s swift response, that request wasn’t granted.
The unvarnished selector doubled down on his stance, saying Mavado is more invested in newcomers than the people who have helped him achieve his iconic status.
“People, when yuh hear Flexxx a talk, Flexxx just a cuss and a nyam up himself and a chat up him mouth,” Foota said. “Him know seh everything mi a talk a truth, but you know him haffi go look a two dubplate or seh, ‘Singa, you hear mi a go need (this or that)’…
“Me know seh Flexx need more strength and Flexxx is a day one yute… So when mi see Mavado give dem fake people yah one million strength and one million collaboration and one million video and push dem up, and have Flexxx deh so a leech like a parasite, mi nuh like that, whether me and Flexxx talk or not.”
This isn’t the first time the entertainers have faced off on social media. In 2021, the men exchanged heated words after it was publicised that Flexxx unknowingly fathered a boy who was actually Foota Hype’s biological son.
