EPOC Says Gov’t Hit All Key Fiscal Targets For April – October Period

The government has hit all its key fiscal targets for the April to October period despite a difficult economic environment.

That’s according to Chairman of the Economic Programme Oversight Committee, EPOC, Keith Duncan on Friday.

EPOC held what’s expected to be its last ever meeting on December 2, ahead of its wind up.

The committee, which has been in existence since 2013, will be replaced by the Independent Fiscal Commission.

The body will again be chaired by Mr. Duncan and will monitor and oversee the government’s adherence to Jamaica’s fiscal rules.

However, Mr. Duncan has warned that growth in the country’s expenditure is out-pacing tax revenues.

This is particularly concerning as the government relied on the one-time amortisation revenues from the Norman Manley International Airport to fulfil obligations for the current fiscal year.
