Deceleration of Jamaica’s Economy Expected – Economists

Two local economists are in agreement that the deceleration in the Jamaican economy is to be expected.

The economists, opposition spokesman on entrepreneurship, Dr. Andre Haughton, and Keenan Falconer were speaking on Nationwide at Five on Thursday evening.

The Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ, says gross domestic product, GDP, for the April to June quarter this year was flat.

Dr. Haughton says Jamaica is experiencing a return to pre-pandemic levels of growth.
