CWI Confirmed WI Women Tour of Pakistan

Cricket West Indies, CWI, confirmed that the West Indies Women’s team will play three One-Day Internationals and five T20 Internationals against Pakistan at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi from April 18 to May 3.

The ODIs are scheduled for April 18, 21, and 23 and hold significance as they contribute to the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship.

These matches are crucial for the West Indies Women as they push for direct qualification for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup that is due to take place in India in 2025.

West Indies Women are currently positioned at number-9 with 8 points – top six qualify automatically.

The West Indies last toured Pakistan in November 2021 resulting in victories in all three ODIs.

Following the ODI Series, a gripping five-match T20 series will unfold.

This T20 series will not only offer thrilling cricket action for fans, but will provide important competitive cricket for both teams to fine-tune their skills and strategies ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is due to take place after the Women’s CPL in Bangladesh in September.

The West Indies Women will assemble in Dubai from April 6 for a one-week training camp as part of their preparations for the upcoming Pakistan tour.

Meanwhile, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes were closing in on victory over the Jamaica Scorpions at close on day three of their fifth round regional four day encounter at Sabina Park.

Set 187 to win, the Hurricanes closed on 145 for 3, just 42 runs away from victory with seven wickets in hand.

Justin Greaves is not out on 62, while Mikyle Louis made 57….Peat Salmon has so far taken two of the wickets to fall.

The Jamaica Scorpions were dismissed for 196 in their second innings… Abhijai Mansingh top scored with 52, Kirk McKenzie 33 and Ramaal Lewis 30.

Rahkeem Cornwall bagged 3 for 56, Jeremiah Louis 3 for 24 and Oshane Thomas 2 for 48.

At Queens Park Oval Barbados Pride beat Trinidad and Tobago Red Force by 8-wickets well inside three days.

T-and-T resuming on 100 for 3 were bowled out for 124.

Jomel Warrican picked up 6-wickets and Jason Holder 4.

At St. Augustine, the Combined Campuses and Colleges set 386 to beat the West Indies Academy reached 72 without loss at stumps, still 314 runs away.

The West Indies Academy declared their second innings on 316 for 7 thanks to Teddy Bishop with 114 and Joshua James 58.

And at Coolidge champions the Guyana Harpy Eagles handed the Windward Islands Volcanoes their first defeat of the season, beating them by 254 runs.

Set 420 to win the Volcanoes folded for 165, as only Shamar Springer 49 and Ryan John 41 made any useful contribution against Nial Smith 5 for 29 and Verasammy Permaul 4 for 37.
